DALLAS, TX. – John Chayka is the General Manager of the Arizona Coyotes, a professional hockey organization in the National Hockey League. Mr. Chayka was the youngest General Manager in professional sports at the age of 26. RECORD BROKEN: The Dallas Marshals Professional Arena Football Team (CIF) would like to introduce Mr. Floyd L. Smith IV. At the ripe age of 25 Mr. Smith is the Dallas Marshals’ new General Manager. Mr. Smith is a Dallas native (Pleasant Grove) and a 2010 graduate of North Mesquite High School. Mr. Smith pursued higher education at the University of North Texas in Denton, TX where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology in 2014.
Floyd’s passion for the sports industry motivated him to pursue a Master’s degree in Sports Management. While pursuing his degree at West Texas A&M University, Mr. Smith joined the Amarillo Venom Professional Arena Football Team (CIF) as an Intern/Project Assistant, assisting with game day and event operations as well as daily in-office preparation. He also became a Clubhouse Manager with the Amarillo ThunderHeads Independent Professional Baseball Club and assisted with Ballpark and Grounds Maintenance. Returning to Dallas after receiving his Master’s, Floyd joined the Mesquite Marshals (now the Dallas Marshals) and Mesquite Arena as an Event Staff Manager, Production/Ops Assistant and Corp./Group Sales.
During the 2016 season (2nd year in operation) Mr. Smith landed some of the Marshals’ biggest sponsors, also assisting Head Coach Hendrix with a variety of Team Operations. With the passion for learning, growth, and community – it was a unanimous decision to place Floyd Smith IV at the helm of a Sports Franchise that is soon to be a household name – much like his own!
